New Rochelle Development Talks a Good Game

New Rochelle Development talks a good game. At a Special Budget Meeting held November 20, 2019 Chuck Strome (New Rochelle City Manager) said “every deal will be a net positive for the City”.  Four months later this letter is under the doors at the Trinity co-op apartment complex on Church street.

“Sanitary Sewer Tax. We were informed that this is a new tax for upgrading the sewer lines, due to all of the new construction of buildings.”

EXCUSE ME!  Let the developers pay the whole damn thing!

The Church/Division development (RXR Realty) is ultimately going to yield 80 municipal parking spaces after being given the 388 municipal space parking garage!  That’s 308 less parking spaces for the neighborhood!

Where is the net positive again? After 20 years of tax abatements?

742 new apartments, a Holiday Inn Express, 20,000 sq ft of retail space all on Church street in one location. Where are all the workers, visitors, hotel guests going to park?

You gave away our parking spaces!

Don’t ask us, the taxpayers of New Rochelle, to carry their burdens!
