14 LeCount Place Brings Affordable Housing Downtown - Opens In 2022

With real estate in affluent New Rochelle all guns blazing, the $190 million 14 LeCount Place, located on LeCount Place and North Avenue, is a mixed-use, mixed-income rental complex spotlighting two 27-story towers, which will feature 511 residential units, including 76 affordable units, and 6,200 sf of retail space. As New Rochelle's vibrant downtown area grows each day, the addition of the 457,000 sf 14 LeCount Place will be another welcome structural entity that is certain to flourish. The building will also feature a pair of outside terraces, a dog run, library, gym, children's playroom, artists' workspace,  lounge and game room, as well as an outdoor pool. The developers are Chappaqua-based Wilder Balter Partners Inc, L&M Partners Inc. of Larchmont, and Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group. Architects for 14 Lecount Place are Beyer Binder Belle Architects and Planners, LLP.

The City of New Rochelle celebrated the official ground-breaking this past November 22nd, as Mayor Noam Bramson said at the dedication, "Yet another major downtown development milestone with the ground-breaking for 14 LeCount. This two-phase project will be among the most significant in our city's history, containing housing, ground-floor businesses, and parking. A quarter of the apartments will be affordable and at a spectrum of price points." The affordable apartments will feature 17 studios, 42 one-bedroom and 17 two-bedrooms with rents ranging from $1,000 to $1,540 a month.

Westchester County Legislator Damon Maher remarked, "This is exactly the kind of development the county needs. The site is centrally located - across the street from the New Roc City entertainment complex and within walking distance to trains and buses." As New Rochelle City Hall officials and developers on this project get enthusiastic about 14 LeCount Place, Wilder Balter Partners President, William Balter, recently commented in a company press statement,

"We are excited to have started construction on what will become a key transit-oriented development in the city."

Leasing is expected to begin in 2021, and it looks certain that this divergent and unique building will bode well for the city's new look. In construction as this goes to print, 14 LeCount Place will be a desired address in New Rochelle's increasing skyline.
